A Platform Built on Resilience
Learning From the 2022 Incident
In 2022, IRA Financial was targeted in a criminal cyberattack that affected some crypto accounts. We immediately partnered with federal law enforcement, cybersecurity experts, and custodial partners.
The outcome was clear and positive. The FBI identified and arrested the individual responsible, and all affected cryptocurrency assets were fully recovered.
A Stronger, More Secure IRA Financial
Since then, we have taken major steps to strengthen your protection:
- Moved our crypto platform to Bitstamp, a globally regulated exchange known for institutional-grade security
- Upgraded authentication and internal access controls
- Deployed real-time monitoring and threat detection tools
- Expanded external security audits and risk oversight
Our Commitment to You
The 2022 incident was a turning point. We responded with transparency, accountability, and action. Today, our platform is stronger than ever, backed by smarter technology, more secure custodial partnerships, and a deep commitment to your safety.
We will keep investing in the protections that help keep your retirement secure.

See What Our Clients Have to Say
Online application process was very simple. Any questions I had was quickly responded to by humans and not simply an unintelligent bot. Establishment of my LLC and bank account was very smooth.
I researched several companies before deciding to go with IRA Financial. I am completely happy with my choice. I appreciate that I can ask questions about rules prior to making an investment to make sure I am compliant. I like that I can invest in traditional investments, but also real estate. I have invested in land, rentals, and home flips. Whenever I am speaking with self-employed individuals, I bring up IRA Financial and the idea of opening a Solo 401(k). I think it is a no-brainer for someone who is self-employed and wish I had opened mine up sooner.
I believe that the sphere of influence, those we surround ourselves with and the firms we partner with is critical to our success. I’m honored to have found Adam Bergman and IRA Financial. Adam and his team have created a culture of raving fans, and I’m truly grateful to be one of them. Being treated like family is absolutely priceless.
Security & Technology FAQ
IRA Financial takes security seriously by using encryption, secure servers, and qualified custodians to protect client information and assets. While cash held in certain accounts may be FDIC-insured, self-directed investments like real estate or crypto are not insured and carry inherent risks. Clients are ultimately responsible for their investment choices, it’s important to stay vigilant and practice good personal security habits.
IRA Financial ensures regulatory compliance by operating as a qualified IRA custodian, adhering to IRS and banking rules, undergoing regular audits, and filing required IRS forms. They also offer an optional Annual Compliance Service that includes tax form preparation, audit support, and consultations to help clients stay within IRS guidelines—though clients remain responsible for their investment decisions.

Phishing is when a scammer pretends to be a trusted company, like IRA Financial, to trick you into sharing personal information, login credentials, or money. These attempts can arrive by email, text message, phone call, social media, or even a fake website designed to look like ours. Because retirement accounts often hold significant savings, account holders are attractive targets for fraudsters. Knowing what we will and won’t ask for is one of the best ways to protect yourself.
IRA Financial will never ask you to provide the following by email, text, social media, or an unsolicited phone call:
- Your online account password or one-time verification codes
- Your full Social Security number
- Bank account or credit card numbers, PINs, or online banking logins
- Remote access to your computer or phone
- Payment in gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers to “secure” or “verify” your account
If anyone claiming to represent IRA Financial asks for any of these, stop the conversation and contact us directly at (800)472-1043.
Legitimate emails from IRA Financial will only come from addresses ending in @irafinancial.com or @irafinancialtrust.com. Our team will never contact you from a personal email account (such as Gmail or Yahoo) or through social media direct messages.
If you’re unsure whether a message is genuine, don’t click any links, open attachments, or call phone numbers included in it. Instead, log in to your account by typing our web address directly into your browser, or call us at (800)472-1043.
Scammers often rely on pressure and surprise. Be cautious of messages that create a sense of urgency (for example, claiming your account will be closed or frozen unless you act immediately), contain spelling or grammar errors, use a generic greeting like “Dear Customer,” or come from an email address that looks slightly off (such as extra letters, misspellings, or unusual domains). Links that don’t match our website when you hover over them, unexpected attachments, and requests to move funds quickly are also red flags.
Be very cautious. IRA Financial does not recommend, endorse, or sponsor specific investments. Fraudsters sometimes use the name of a trusted retirement provider to make a scheme seem credible, particularly with self-directed investments like real estate, private placements, precious metals, and cryptocurrency. Promises of guaranteed or unusually high returns, pressure to invest quickly, and unregistered sellers are all common signs of investment fraud. Always research any opportunity independently and consider consulting a licensed financial professional before investing.
Wire fraud is a growing risk, especially in real estate transactions. Scammers may hack or spoof email accounts belonging to title companies, attorneys, or sellers and send altered wiring instructions. Before sending any funds, always verify wiring instructions by calling the recipient at a phone number you have independently confirmed, not one provided in the email. Be especially wary of any last-minute changes to payment instructions.
Don’t reply, click any links, or open any attachments. Forward the suspicious email to security@irafinancial.com and then delete it. If you received a suspicious phone call or text, note the number and details and report it to us. You can also report phishing attempts to the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Act quickly. Contact IRA Financial immediately at (800)472-1043 so we can help secure your account. Change your account password right away, along with the password for any other accounts that use the same one, and enable multi-factor authentication if you haven’t already. If you shared financial information, contact your bank as well. If your Social Security number was exposed, consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze with the major credit bureaus and visit IdentityTheft.gov for a step-by-step recovery plan.
You can reach our team at (800)472-1043, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm CT, or by email at security@irafinancial.com. When in doubt, always reach out to us directly using the contact information on our official website rather than any information provided in a suspicious message.
